What If

I can't find the rhyme in all my reason
I've lost sense of time and all seasons
I feel I've been beaten down
By the words of men who have no grounds
I can't sleep beneath the trees of wisdom
When your ax has cut the roots that feed them
Forked tongues in bitter mouths
Can drive a man to bleed from inside out

What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?

I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine
Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind
Human pride sings a vengeful song
Inspired by the times you've been walked on
My stage is shared by many millions
Who lift their hands up high because they feel this
We are one We are strong
The more you hold us down the more we press on

What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?

I know I can't hold the hate inside my mind
'Cause what consumes your thoughts controls your
life.

So I'll just ask a question
What if?
What if your words could be judged like a crime?

"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of Temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
-Abraham Lincoln

"We must not blindly add to the body count and the terrible cost of the War on Drugs, only to learn from another Robert McNamara 30 years from now that what we've been doing is, 'wrong, terribly wrong.'" Walter Cronkite - 1995

Statement of Purpose

As the 32 year old mother of five, I was an active member of the conservative right. I had marched for Christ and the unborn, stood in front of bars with the cross to witness to the lost, as well as being pro-active in other conservative issues such as separation of church and state, and the right to homeschool.

Naturally, I was an opponent of marijuana use, but not knowingly a proponent of its criminalization.

With decades of ignorance and apathy under my belt, the introduction and use of marijuana by a Christian friend forced me to re-examine the issue of marijuana consumption from a scriptural point of view. I was confident that the leaders of the Christian culture had good reason for the unanimous support of the current prohibition and was sure my research would validate their position, though I was having serious doubts.

After three years of researching, debating and fruitlessly contacting numerous ministries and organizations, my doubts were confirmed. It is not the use of marijuana but the prohibition of the use of marijuana that is a violation of God's word.

It is our hope that ChristiansForCannabis.Com will be a productive tool in refuting the misinformation that has caused prohibition of marijuana to be the Christians default choice on this issue.

Faceless Man

I spent a day by the river
It was quiet and the wind stood still
I spent some time with nature
To remind me of all that's real
It's funny how silence speaks sometimes when
you're alone
And remember that you feel

Again I stand against the Faceless Man

Now I saw a face on the water
It looked humble but willing to fight
I saw the will of a warrior
His yoke is easy and His burden is light
He looked me right in the eyes
Direct and concise to remind me
To always do what's right

Again I stand against the Faceless Man

'Cause if the face inside can't see the light
I know I'll have to walk alone
And if I walk alone to the other side
I know I'll have to walk alone

Again I stand against the Faceless Man

Next time I see this face
I'll say I choose to live for always
So won't you come inside And never go away

Truth

"Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge."- Paul, I Timothy 6:20.

New Scofield Reference Note to I Timothy 6:20
Permission for use granted by Oxford University Press.

Truth cannot contradict the Bible, since God, who knows all things, kept the writers of the Bible from error.

If theories that rest upon mere speculation or insufficient evidence are presented as fact, in any area of knowledge, e.g. in religion, philosophy, science, etc., they deserve the description that the apostle gives here: "what is falsely called knowledge," from which they are to "turn away". - Note to I Timothy 6:20, They Holy Bible, New Scofield Study System NIV, 1984 Edition, C.I. Scofield, Oxford University Press.

Genesis 1:11-13

Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day.

I Timothy 4:4 - "For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." - Paul
