What If

I can't find the rhyme in all my reason
I've lost sense of time and all seasons
I feel I've been beaten down
By the words of men who have no grounds
I can't sleep beneath the trees of wisdom
When your ax has cut the roots that feed them
Forked tongues in bitter mouths
Can drive a man to bleed from inside out

What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?

I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine
Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind
Human pride sings a vengeful song
Inspired by the times you've been walked on
My stage is shared by many millions
Who lift their hands up high because they feel this
We are one We are strong
The more you hold us down the more we press on

What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?

I know I can't hold the hate inside my mind
'Cause what consumes your thoughts controls your
life.

So I'll just ask a question
What if?
What if your words could be judged like a crime?
--Creed

"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of Temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
-Abraham Lincoln

"We must not blindly add to the body count and the terrible cost of the War on Drugs, only to learn from another Robert McNamara 30 years from now that what we've been doing is, 'wrong, terribly wrong.'" Walter Cronkite - 1995

"What would happen if all persons gulty of buying, or selling cannabis went down to there loca lFBI office, (let,s say on May 15 2002 ) and demanded thier right to be jailed.? " -- Wayne Herron
Answer: With full cooperation, it would definitely make the point that they haven't the room or the resources to incarcerate everyone. What goes unrealized is that cannabis consumers are everywhere, in every community, and in almost every station in life. Millions of people would be turning themselves in and there would probably be almost that many surprises over who allowed themselves to be criminalized by using marijuana. Another idea is a class action lawsuit against the US Government on the grounds that the laws that prohibit marijuana are unconstitutional. I am sure if it could have been done it would have, but if not it too could go a long way in effectively making the point. Whatever it peacably takes, lets hope that the message gets through soon. We are long overdue peace talks and a treaty in this war on drugs.

"What Bible are you reading? Nowhere in the Bible does it state that God declare Cannibis good. " -- anonymous
Answer: The Bible I am reading says -

"Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and morning - the third day.
Genesis 1:11-13

Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground - everything that has the breath of life in it - I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning -the sixth day.
Genesis 1:29-31

"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man." "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man."
Genesis 9:3-6

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. I Timothy 4:4

And that is just the beginning. The seed-bearing plant we call cannabis sativa, marijuana, pot etc.. has been on this earth since the third day of Creation. God declared it and all the other seed-bearing plants as good. God can not not lie. In reference to the fact that this culture smokes marijuana instead of eating it, the law doesn't care what you are doing with it, it is still illegal. So the law in fact prohibits man from using it even as God had intended. The smoking part is merely nit picking.

In addition to the verses that validate that it is God's will that the seed-bearing plant we call marijuana exists, we were also given clear instructions on how to treat those in the world and the ones part of God's family. We are not to condemn or judge people in the world at all, so as not to be an obstacle to the Cross. To not see arrest and incarceration as condemnation is blindness. For those that are in the body of Christ, the same teaching applies as well. Matters of consumption are considered debatable, as Jesus said, it is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out of his mouth. Do you think he did not know about the marijuana plant? Of course he did, he was there when it was created. Neither God nor Jesus failed to warn us about it, there was no need to warn us about it.

God created this plant and declared it good. While I was an opponent of cannabis use for many many years, I was ignorant of the laws that criminalized its use. I have seen the harm that these laws can cause and I will not be responsible for destroying someone else's life that has done me no harm. In fact, will not be responsible for destroying anyone's life even if they do do me harm. Didn't Jesus say if someone strikes us, to offer the other cheek also? Retribution, vengeance and retaliation are forbidden in my Bible.

Truth

"Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge."- Paul, I Timothy 6:20.

New Scofield Reference Note to I Timothy 6:20
Permission for use granted by Oxford University Press.

Truth cannot contradict the Bible, since God, who knows all things, kept the writers of the Bible from error.

If theories that rest upon mere speculation or insufficient evidence are presented as fact, in any area of knowledge, e.g. in religion, philosophy, science, etc., they deserve the description that the apostle gives here: "what is falsely called knowledge," from which they are to "turn away". - Note to I Timothy 6:20, They Holy Bible, New Scofield Study System NIV, 1984 Edition, C.I. Scofield, Oxford University Press.
